Wisconsin Child Care Improvement Project

The Supporting Families Together Association was created in 2007 with a merger of the Wisconsin Child Care Resource & Referral Network, the Wisconsin Child Care Improvement Project and a network of Family Resource Centers.

SFTA’s mission is to support those groups that promote quality care, resources and education to enrich the lives of children.

The Wisconsin Child Care Improvement Project (WCCIP) is an integral part of the Supporting Families Together Association (SFTA). WCCIP is dedicated to improving child care by supporting Early Care and Education professionals in a variety of ways to provide best practices within the Early Care and Education field. Technical Consultants throughout the state work with family child care programs and child care group centers assisting them with:

  • Pre-licensing preparations, and
  • Program quality enhancement.

We do this through a range of services including:

  • one-on-one consultations,
  • web based information on licensing process, including resource materials and links to DHFS and other agencies
  • DVD packet of self-help materials for Family child care applicants
  • targeted workshops,
  • Child Development Associate advising,
  • business consultations, and
  • environment assessments.

Our staff of Technical Consultants know about quality child care because we've helped create it ourselves as center directors, classroom teachers, family child care providers and school age site supervisors. From diapering to developmentally appropriate practice, from cash flow to curriculum, we've experienced it first hand. We help make good child care programs great.
